I love exploring new places. You know the sort of exploring I mean? It’s getting away from the usual tourist spots and wandering the back streets and laneways. It’s peering over fences and peeking through gates. It’s climbing stairs to the unknown and stopping to chat with the locals. Of course all this is done with care and common sense but this is where you get to see the real essence of the places you visit.
It is also where you get to see some fantastic street art. I’m certainly no expert on street art but I love it: the anti authoritarian nature of it, the colour (or not), the creativity, the freedom of expression and of course, the social commentary. My home town Melbourne, in particular Hosier Lane, is renowned for its fabulous urban art.
I would add to that: ” a new generation of explorers too.
