ITINERARY 4
The path dedicated to Enzo Caruso’s art – Itinerary 4 is a little different to the other pathways, parts of it perhaps reflecting a slightly darker side to life and I think the artworks also reflect this.
ENZO CARUSO
The path with its many ancient steps is walled on both sides, either by high stone walls or the walls of houses. Rather than running parallel to the sea, it tends to run more vertically – there isn’t much of a mountain view as in Itinerary 3 and views of the sea are limited. Born of the dark world of folklore, superstition and the deepest corners of our imagination, the ceramics depict le janare in their many grotesque disguises. With the folklore in mind – best time to walk the path? Twilight – as the light fades and the shadows begin the creep in….
